Privacy Policy

This policy explains what RollingSeries collects, why, and what your choices are. Plain language, no surprises.
1. Who we are
RollingSeries, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Contact: info@rollingseries.com.
2. What we collect
- Account info. When you register, we store your email address and a username. Passwords are stored as hashes (never in plain text).
- Uploaded photos. Photos you contribute, plus any embedded metadata (EXIF) the file contains: camera, lens, timestamp, and sometimes GPS. EXIF travels with the file unless you strip it before upload. We do not display GPS coordinates publicly, but the metadata is preserved on the original file.
- Captions and alt text. What you write, or what our AI captioner suggests, attached to your uploads.
- IP addresses. Briefly logged for security and rate-limiting (for example, to stop spam submissions). Not used to track browsing.
- Server logs. Standard request logs (timestamp, URL, user agent) kept by our host for operational purposes.
We do not currently use cookies for analytics or advertising. WordPress uses session cookies to keep you logged in. If we add analytics later, we’ll update this policy and tell you what’s new.
3. How we use it
- Operate the site (publish your photos, attribute them to you, let you manage your contributions).
- Communicate with you about your account, uploads, or moderation decisions.
- Generate alt text and captions for accessibility and search.
- Prevent abuse and keep the site secure.
4. Who we share it with
We don’t sell your data. We share only with service providers that help operate the site:
- WP Engine (United States), hosting and transactional email delivery.
- OpenAI (United States), generates alt text and captions from uploaded photos. Photos are sent to OpenAI for this purpose. Per OpenAI’s API terms, content sent through the API is not used to train their models.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
5. Public content
Photos you upload, your contributor name (as you set it), and the captions associated with your uploads are public by design. Don’t upload anything you wouldn’t want published with credit to you.
6. Retention
We keep account info and contributions for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we’ll remove personal account info and either remove your photos or anonymize the credit, at your choice. Email info@rollingseries.com to request deletion.
7. Your rights
You can:
- See and edit your contributions on the My Contributions page.
- Request a copy of your data.
- Request correction or deletion.
- Withdraw consent for AI captioning (we’ll moderate manually instead).

8. Children
RollingSeries is not directed at children under 13. Don’t create an account if you’re under 13.
9. Security
We use HTTPS, hashed passwords, and reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we’ll notify affected users.
10. International users
RollingSeries is operated from the United States. If you use the site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.
11. Changes
We’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top when this policy changes. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
